Any one familar with the Optima battery, other than being expensive...does anyone have a phone # to the company....need to find out if this battery can be mount inside the car, without venting holes, since I believe it is a dry cell type of battery....I need room in engine area, and moving the battery is one solution....I believe this swap is not that difficult, just get thicker and longer battery leads, and a battery box, and if I have to, vent to the outside....thx..

I've got my battery in the hatch. its in a box and its not vented and I dont have any probs. I got the box/wires from Summit for $50.
you can mount an optima w/o a box. just strap it down wherever you like
good luck.

Optima Batteries:
600 CCA - $100
800 CCA - $120
Larger Sized 120CCA I think - $170
You sometimes need a core to exchange with otherwise like $5 bucks more.
You can get them at Car Audio Installation Shops.
CCA means Cold Cranking Amps.

Thank s nc_rex
I was at Pep boys the other day and they have Optima batteries for $119....
On the Optima web site, I gave them info on my car(1988 Honda HB 1.5) and they said that they don't have a battery for my car....I can just use any of the batteries, right? size doesn't matter as I want to mount it inside, so there is more room in the engine compartment...thanks

Well actually the problem is more like in the terminal locations.
I'll snap a pic today because I need to purchase some car-audio billet bronze/copper or whatever they make those battery cable connectors out of. I need something I can quick release the cable with!
I'll let you know why it's a pain...They also have annihilator batteries I think - they are like optima but a different maker, and their's a few others that are really good out there.

Sorry, getting delingquent about posting...I'll upload them now.
The problem I think is the terminal posts are on opposite sides. But since our intake pipes always run against the piping anyways (which scares me to see this in pics), I'd run these batteries switched - new wiring - easily done, kindof a project.
This is a 720 CCA Optima
This is an 800 CCA Optima.
You can see that the terminals are backwards. On both batteries there are quick attachment type deals on the sides. Can't remember how much the connectors go for, but it's an easy way to install them.
If I were you, I'd use the side-install method. I'd simply cut off the battery half of the ground cable, and pickup a 4ga new cable with that connector I talked about and a ring connector for the other side to be bolted in the chassis where it used to be.
Then take the positive side and your gonna have to run new wires to the starter and main relay panel on the passenger's strut tower. Just two wires. the 4ga wire ot the starter with Ring connector and reuse boot, the other wire to the main fuse panel - 8ga - with a ring connector - will need to shave down edges of fuse box panel and connector, I'll send a picture if you request for one to show you what I'm talking about. Really easy to do.
The reason I mention this is because of the dip in the hood to center, and the fact that our intake hoses run so close to the hood. It's best to run the battery from the side or from switched posts location, but the side makes it easier and neater.
